Introduction & Observation Notes
Basic Temperament: During her time as a street dog, Mano would actively approach other dogs of similar size. However, after limiting contact with other dogs during treatment for Hepatozoon and Babesia, she has become more fearful and shy. She prefers narrow, cozy spaces over large, open areas.
Mano is a dog who goes to the bathroom outdoors 99% of the time. She holds her bladder and bowels indoors, so at the center she is taken out to the yard alone at least twice daily.
With People: Mano is still adjusting to human interaction. She will accept treats from familiar people but appears stiff around unfamiliar ones. Since her food motivation is low, she would do well with a person or family who can maintain a comfortable distance and wait patiently for her to adjust without forcing interaction.
With Other Dogs: Due to ongoing Hepatozoon and Babesia treatment, contact with other dogs is being limited. She currently lives with her daughter Arang (also in treatment) and Chani (rescued from elsewhere). She runs away from high-energy Arang but lies quietly in corners alongside calm Chani. During her street dog days, she would actively approach and greet dogs of similar size, sniffing them.
Energy Level: Low
Ideal Home: A family patient enough to wait for Mano to open her heart
A home that can provide frequent outdoor bathroom breaks
One other dog of similar size should be manageable.
Special Notes: Fearful
