In just a few days, it will be one year since Deokgu and I first met. There was a long wait and so much that happened before he could open his heart to us, one little piece at a time. But these days, he fusses over his food, barks when he hears a new sound beyond the usual household noises, and tries to guard the house. When he sleeps, he flops over on his back with his belly up, yet still greets anyone who comes by with sleepy eyes... Every time he shows us a new side of himself, my heart fills with gratitude!
